Health & Wellness
The Boostrix and Flu vaccinations are both important ways of managing diptheria, tetanus and flu and are available for all adults, in many cases free especially for our older population
Booking an appointment
It is important to us that you can access healthcare services at all times. Ilam Medical is open for care from 8.00am - 5.30 pm weekdays. If you call our number outside of our normal hours, your call will be answered by a nurse triage service who can guide you as to what to do... alternatively you can go to the After Hours Service
If you need help after hours
Ilam Medical is a General practice, or family doctor surgery, providing primary health care and support within standard weekly work hours.
Outside of these hours we are supported by the After Hours service that can ensure you can get the support and care you need 24/7!
Child/Youth Health
The B4 school checks are managed by the Public Health team, and aim to help identify any issues that may affect your child's early schooling
You should be contacted before your child turns 4 1/2 years old.

Child immunisations are a significant part of the role we play to manage diseases in New Zealand. We recommend that you strongly consider vaccinating your child.
Women's Health
Cervical cancer is highly treatable if detected early. Regular cervical screening every five years is recommended for women aged 25 to 69 years, if they have ever been sexually active.

Men’s Health
Cardiovascular disease (heart attack or stroke) is the leading cause of death in NZ. A heart check (or cardiovascular risk assessment) will let you know what your risk is of having a heart attack or stroke in the next 5 years and how you can reduce that risk.

Men have health risks that they need to manage. Ilam Health are committed to seeing that men get regular check ups for male specific illnesses. These include prostate, testicular and cardio vascular illnesses.

Checks / Assessments
Blood test services (phlebotomy) are available Monday to Friday with our nurses. Most results are available within a few days, but for anything urgent your doctor will request a faster response and contact you if required.

Diabetes is a serious condition, where the level of glucose in the blood is too high. There are two types, because of either lack of insulin (type 1) or increased insulin resistance (type 2), and all can have serious implications for your health.

Minor Procedures
Ilam offers in clinic Iron Infusions. The doctor will discuss this as an option for iron replacement if you meet the criteria.
Think you need iron?
Liquid nitrogen is available at Ilam Medical daily. This can be used to treat verrucas, skin lesions and warts.

Our doctors are trained to complete minor surgery within the practice and there a number of common procedures we offer, including skin lesions, toenails and skin tag removal.
