Born and bred in Runanga near Greymouth on the West Coast.
My grandfather, uncles, and father worked in the Strongman coal mine.
I’ve lived in Christchurch since late primary school.
Studied at Canterbury and Lincoln Universities, trained initially as a High School science teacher but after a brief period in the NZ Army entered Otago Medical School. Graduated 1986.
I undertook GP training in Christchurch and settled into a practice at Ilam in 1997. Became a Fellow of the RNZCGP in 2000.
Post graduate diplomas in Obstetrics and Industrial/Occupational Medicine (dist) through Otago Medical School.
Previously involved in undergraduate education and currently a facilitator for GP education with the Pegasus Medical Group.
I am an avid mountain biker having come to it later in life and can be found on the Port Hills for part of most weekends.
I am lucky to have a job that I love in a city that has always felt like home.
